Termite Control
Termites are one of the most destructive pests that homeowners face. It is estimated that about 1-in-4 homes in the mid-Atlantic region has been, is presently, or will be, affected by termites. Because of the nature of termites, destruction can be ongoing for years without the homeowner ever being aware. Our termite services include inspection, treatment, and protection plans.
Spotted Lanternfly Control
Spotted lanternflies have quickly become a concern in Pennsylvania and surrounding states as they spread. While they are unquestionably a beautiful creature, they can be damaging to plant species around our properties. Since they are a relatively new invasive species, there isn’t a “go-to” manual or product for their control.
Give our office a call, and we’ll be happy to provide you with our treatment recommendations and answer any further questions you may have.
Lanternfly FAQ
The adult lanternflies are voracious feeders (at a time of year when trees need to be conserving energy in preparation for the winter dormancy), the adults produce honeydew (which creates black, sooty mold on the tree that hinders photosynthesis and attracts other pests), and the adults lay the eggs for the following Spring.
Mice Control
You open your pantry...and something seems amiss. There’s a box of cereal in the cupboard...with a hole in the bottom. You think you saw something grey dart behind your entertainment center. Then...you discover rodent droppings in your utensil drawer. Finally, you’re willing to admit....”I have a mouse!”

Mosquito Control
Mosquitoes, one of the most dreaded summer pests, can make outdoor activities less enjoyable. There are about 60 different species of mosquitoes in Pennsylvania alone.
As part of our commitment to ongoing environmental stewardship, we are pleased to announce our intent to implement the In2Care mosquito management system this year as our primary mosquito control service.
We currently have In2Care in stock. We will provide them on a "first come, first serve" basis. Let us know ASAP if you would like us to reserve stock for you.
Mosquito FAQ
Mosquito service is most effective if it’s implemented early in the season, so don’t delay.
Bed Bug Control
Bed bugs, the most successful hitch-hikers since "Woodstock", are here to stay. With the ban of DDT in the 1970's, these little creatures have slowly made a resurgence, and their numbers are now reaching critical proportions.
If you've been unfortunate enough to have introduced these creatures into your home, Hershey Termite & Pest Control is here to help. Before you try a home remedy (and potentially make the issue worse), give us a call to schedule a consultation to evaluate your situation.
Bed Bug FAQ
Stink Bug Control
One of the reasons we decided to add this section to my website is to warn homeowners of unscrupulous companies promising to "eradicate" stink bugs. Many homeowners become desperate when these pests begin invading their homes in large numbers. Keep in mind, "eradication" with current products is impossible. Any company worth its reputation will concede this fact. There are, however, products and methods that can be utilized to reduce populations of stink bugs. The time to treat for stink bugs is before they make their entrance into your home...usually late summer into early fall.
Wasps and Hornets
While wasps and hornets play a positive role in keeping insect populations under control, and they can be effective pollinators, they can also be problematic when they nest in or near structures. They can be quite aggressive when their nests are disturbed.
Ground nests of yellow jackets catch people by surprise, as do aerial nests of hornets and wasps in trees, bushes, and even soffits of structures.
Over the past few seasons, we’ve seen an enormous increase in the population of German yellow jackets. They tend to nest in wall voids and attic spaces. Because of their nesting proximity to people (and the ability for them to chew thru sheetrock), control is imperative.
Control is accomplished through various measures…a proper inspection will allow us to establish a treatment protocol.
Ants
Ants are one of the most successful species on Earth. Their colony structure is fascinating: however, ants in and around your home is not only frustrating, but certain species can actually damage the structural integrity of your home.
Identifying the species of ants will allow us to properly plan and execute a course of action for their control.
